Barking Dockers 2004

The West Coast Eagle "Goose" of the Week

Goose of the week...

The West Coast Eagle "Goose" of the week goes to the biggest dork in the football world of the previous week. In typical Wet Toast fashion, each winner needs to display characteristics of utter foolishness, rank stupidity or spineless cowardice to win this hotly contested award.

The Winner this week is: Andrew Demetriou showed his true colours this week after going back on his mid season word, and "banking" another final so that Sydney can play a final at Stadium Australia. It is funny that when he came out with the tough talk about playing 2 finals at the MCG the Dockers were  looking the most likely team to finish sixth and therefore suffer the lack of equality that has always marred the "AFL". It appears that not  only is there a Victorian bias in this competition but also, if precious lambs Sydney are the ones that would otherwise cop the treatment, all of a sudden Mr. Demetriou is all compassionate and understanding. Get stuffed you great goose, we know what a hypocrit you are.

The Winner last week was: This has been coming for some time, but the teams performance was the straw that broke the camel's back. All year the Dockers ability to put a score on the board has been a mere shadow of what it was last year. In a team that is supposed to be "continually improving" it is hard to see that the Fremantle Forward Line has gone anywhere but 100 miles backwards and this relfects badly on Fremantle's Forwards Coach: Steve Malaxos. Last week Fremantle scored its lowest ever total in admittedly tough conditions, but then in a huge game for the club backed up with a pathetic sub 50 points performance against the old enemy. Paul Medhurst needs to be dropped for a serious spell, so that his attitude can improve as Justin Longmuir has.
